Multiple database support

The Multiple database Support module enables the Alfresco Community platform to run in environments using different database engines, thus offering maximum technological flexibility and easier adaptation to the existing IT infrastructure.

Key capabilities of the module:

Support for scalable and high-performance deployments– The ability to handle large document collections and metadata using high-performance, enterprise databases increases the stability and responsiveness of the Alfresco environment at enterprise scale.
Compatibility with Oracle and MS SQL databases– The extension provides full support for Oracle databases from version 11i and Microsoft SQL Server from version 2012, enabling Alfresco Community deployments without the need to migrate to PostgreSQL.
Enterprise architecture compatibility– With support for leading database engines, Alfresco can be easily integrated into existing database environments in established IT organisations.
Minimising implementation barriers– Enabling you to work on known and already deployed databases reduces the cost and complexity of integrating with financial, ERP, HR or BI systems, which are often based on Oracle or MS SQL.
Security and management in line with the organisation’s policies– Implementing Alfresco on Oracle or MS SQL allows you to leverage the company’s standards for backup, HA (High Availability), replication and auditing – without the need to build new security procedures.
