Transformation server
Transformation Server is a component that works with both Alfresco Community and Alfresco Enterprise(from version 5.2) , which provides efficient and precise conversion of documents between different formats. Using Microsoft Office or LibreOffice engines, the server enables the generation of accurate previews, thumbnails, and transparent comparison of file versions – while maintaining consistency with the original appearance of the documents.
Key capabilities:
- Convert document formats– Allows you to convert files between popular formats such as DOCX to PDF or XLSX to PDF. By using MS Office or LibreOffice engines, the final document retains the layout, fonts and structure of the original.
- Generate previews and thumbnails in the browser– The server creates high-quality previews of documents without the need to download them, allowing users to quickly view the content and conveniently browse the content without leaving the browser.
- Compare document versions and display differences– Allows analysis of changes between versions of the same document – differences are presented in a clear and visually understandable way, which supports version control and facilitates team collaboration.
- Scalable support for conversion of large file volumes– The server’s architecture allows for parallel processing of multiple documents simultaneously, making it a suitable solution for organizations operating on a large number of files.
- Integrated work with Alfresco Community and Enterprise repository– Full integration with the Alfresco platform allows the server to be seamlessly deployed and used in both open-source and commercial environments, without the need for additional tools.
